Certain countries have transferable driving licenses such as the UK, Japan, Austria, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany and the USA but in order to do this you must have your Permanent Resident Card. People from other countries have to pass the driving examinations.

There is a driver's book that needs to be studied to pass thewritten test. This book is offered only in English. The written driving test ($15) is offered in Cantonese, Punjabi, Mandarin, French, Spanish, Russian, Croatian, Arabic & Farsi.
If you speak another language you may have a certified translator during the written exam. Stopping in Vancouver before coming to Campbell River may be helpful as there may be a greater variety of translators.
ICBC Practice test. It is available in English and Punjabi.
To help you pass your written exam and driving exam you may want to take some driving lessons. You can take 1 hour lessons or longer.
90-day time limit
To drive legally, you must switch to a B.C. driver's license within 90 days of moving here. During this time, you can keep driving with your existing valid license.
Two years driving experience
To be eligible for a full-privilege B.C. driver's license, you must have held a driver's license (not a learner's) for at least 2 years.
You MUST get insurance for your vehicle. You will be fined if you drive without insurance and if you are in an accident you could be sued for millions of dollars.
Fishing & Hunting is illegal unless you have a proper license.
